Women
The United Methodist Women of Lee's Chapel are organized under the guidelines of The United Methodist Church "as a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know
God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Our UM Women have their General Meeting at 7:00 PM on the first Monday of each month, except in May when we have a luncheon on the first Saturday. Also, we do not meet in July. The General Meeting opens with a devotion, followed by a business meeting and a program.
Our UM Women's unit is comprised of five circles that meet a various times best suited to the lifestyles of the members. Meeetings are usually held in the momes of the members and include a business meeting and program. The hostess usually provides refreshments after the program.
- Circle #1 meets at 7:45 PM on the second Monday of the month.
- Circle #2 meets at 7:00 PM on Tuesday after the second Monday of the month.
- The M&M's Circle meets at 11:00 AM on Tuesday after the second Monday of the month.
- The Jinnette Circle meets at 7:15 PM on the second Monday of the month.
- Circle #5 meets at 2:00 PM on tyhe second Monday of the month.
Other than pledges from members, our majoy fund raising event for missions is the sale of Brunswick Stew and baked goods the first Saturday in November.
Golden Treasures
Golden Treasures, a group for older adults, meets at 11:30 AM on the first Tuesday of each month. Meetings usually involve time for fellowship, a covered dish lunch, and a program presented by a speaker or entertainers. Usually the meetings are held in the church fellowship hall. However, occasionally the group will meet at a restaurant for lunch.
Some of our programs have been about bird feeding, memory loss, Russia, Africa, etc.
Entertainment has been by individuals, Greensboro Day School singers and Three of a Kind.
Our outreach is Bingo for the patients at St. Gales on the second Wednesday each month where we make sure everyone wins a prize. We have also sponsored a crochet class. Our group is always open to suggestions for activities and programs which will interest the group.
